Celinda Levno killed in Denver 16th Street Mall stabbing spree, suspect in custody

Police have detained a suspect following multiple stabbings along Denver’s 16th Street during the weekend that resulted in two fatalities and two injuries.

Denver authorities confirmed the arrest Sunday night, linking the suspect to four separate attacks, including one deadly assault on Sunday evening.

The initial attack took place Saturday at roughly 5:12 p.m. near the corner of 16th Street and Tremont Street. Officers discovered a male victim with non-fatal wounds who was subsequently taken to a nearby medical facility for care.

Shortly after, around 5:17 p.m., authorities responded to another stabbing incident at 16th Street and California Street. A woman with critical neck wounds was immediately transported to the hospital, where she died the following day. According to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas, the victim’s identity will be released by the Denver County Coroner’s Office.

A third stabbing occurred Saturday at 5:54 p.m. at 16th Street and Lawrence Street. The male victim in this attack suffered serious injuries but remained in stable condition as of Sunday evening.

The fourth incident occurred Sunday around 10:00 p.m. in the 1600 block of Market Street. The victim was rushed to a medical facility but did not survive.

Law enforcement captured a male suspect shortly after the fourth attack. Denver police officially confirmed by 11:30 p.m. Sunday that the individual had been arrested for all four stabbings.

Although the suspect’s identity remains undisclosed, officials indicated it will be revealed following his jail booking on Monday.

Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas stated that investigators believe the attacks were random, with no apparent connection between the suspect and victims. The underlying reasons for the violent attacks remain under investigation as authorities work to understand the sequence of events.

The Denver Police Department has strengthened its presence in the area to maintain public safety and deter additional incidents. The public is advised to stay alert and notify authorities of any suspicious activities.

The case remains under active investigation, and individuals with relevant information about the stabbings are encouraged to reach out to the Denver Police Department or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
